Many Muslims, Christians, and others believe that Yahweh, the God revealed in the Bible, and Allah, the God of the Qur’an, are the same God. But is this really so? Can this question be examined in light of what the Bible, the Qur’an, and the Hadith themselves teach about the character and moral attributes of God?
This website invites you to examine this question with an open mind and to read the available books online free of charge.
People answer the question of whether Yahweh, the God revealed in the Bible, and Allah, the God of the Qur’an, are the same God in different ways. This website gives the reader an opportunity to examine that question personally.
The book Who is God, Yahweh or Allah? compares the character and moral attributes ascribed to Yahweh and Allah in the Bible, the Qur’an, and the Hadith. Its purpose is to examine the available sources and enable the reader to reach an informed conclusion.
The books on this website can be read online free of charge and are presented with the invitation that every reader examine them honestly and with an open mind.
Many Muslims, Christians, and others believe that Yahweh and Allah are the same God. The central question of this website is whether that assumption can be tested by examining the sources through which each is revealed.
The book therefore examines the Bible, the Qur’an, and the Hadith and compares, among other things, what these writings teach about love, sin, forgiveness, punishment, salvation, peace, violence, worship, and the life hereafter. If Yahweh and Allah are the same being, then according to the book’s approach there should be a clear and substantial correspondence in their moral character.
The Bible presents God’s love not merely as sentiment or emotion, but as a disposition of benevolence that He also expects from His followers. The book therefore asks whether this description emerges clearly from the Bible and how it compares with what the Qur’an and the Hadith teach about Allah and what he expects from his followers.
The study considers, among other matters, love toward others, peacefulness, sin, punishment, forgiveness, salvation, war, and violence. The purpose is to allow the sources themselves to speak and to compare the moral character presented in them.
The original study began in 2001–2002. In 2003, the results were published in Afrikaans as a printed book under the title Who is God, Yahweh of Allah?
Following further interest, the work was also made available electronically and was later revised in both Afrikaans and English. The current edition has been further expanded and is made available free of charge so that interested readers can examine the arguments and cited sources for themselves.
A second book, A New Life of Peace with God, deals with the love of God, salvation, and reconciliation with Him.
According to the author, the motive behind this website and these books is love — not merely emotional or sentimental affection, but genuine care and benevolence toward other people.
The purpose is not to stir up hatred toward people of another faith or conviction. On the contrary, readers are encouraged to examine the truth seriously while treating all people with respect and goodwill.
The author’s desire is that every person who reads these books, regardless of his or her religious conviction, will do so with an open mind and derive spiritual benefit from them.
