Who is the one true, living God?
That is the central question of this book. Many people are confused and do not know who the true, living God is.
A great number of people believe that Yahweh (sometimes spelled Jahweh, the Hebrew name for the God of the Bible) and Allah, the God of the Qur’an and Islam, are the same being, and therefore regard both as the one true God. But can they truly be the same being – known by two different names, worshipped by two different religious communities, each with entirely different beliefs and practices?
If they are indeed the same being, then this is good, and both may rightly be worshipped as such. But if they are not the same being, then at least one of them must be a false god and should not be worshipped.
One way to determine whether Yahweh and Allah are in fact the same being is to examine the sacred texts of these religions and identify the moral attributes of each and then compare them. If their moral attributes are identical, it becomes possible – and reasonable – to acknowledge that they are indeed the same being, and therefore the same God. This is the focus of this book.
Drawing from the Bible, the Qur’an, and the Hadith (more on these important Islamic writings later), the moral attributes of Yahweh and Allah are identified and compared. This should provide a clear answer to the question of whether they are truly the same being. If it becomes evident that they are not the same God, it should also become clear who the true God is.
In this study, numerous quotations from the Qur’an, the Hadith, and the Bible have been used. These citations are more than sufficient to establish – beyond any reasonable doubt – the character and moral attributes of the two beings under discussion: the God of the Bible and Allah of Islam.
The purpose of this book is to help the honest seeker of truth to gain a clear understanding of the character and attributes of Yahweh, the God of the Bible, and Allah, the God of the Qur’an, so that he or she may be able to make an informed decision on the matter.
